Review: Urbanoutfitters.com

Happy Saturday! =)
Recently I made my first ever Urban Outfitters order online (the American one not the UK one). I only bought 2 items but here is a mini review:
Packaging: My order came in a pretty big box. To my surprise there was no tissue paper or bubble wrap involved but rather these recyclable air filled bags which I thought was a clever idea. My item arrived in very good condition with only minor dents on the edges of the boxes but the items themselves were in perfect condition.

Products purchased:
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Women's High-Top Sneaker available here:
If you saw my Spring wishlist last year you may know that I have been wanting a pair of white low-top Converse for the longest time. Unfortunately I have given up on those because they are always sold out in my size! However, I am so glad I bought these ones because they literally go with everything and they are extremely comfortable (although you will need to break them in). They have become my everyday shoes despite seeing at least 10 other people at uni wearing the exact same pair!

Eva NYC Celestial Ceramic Styling Tool available here:
This item may sort of look familiar if you saw my latest wishlist. I decided to skip on the floral one since it was a travel size and I thought this full size one would be better quality and easier to use. It is so so pretty! The pictures don't do it justice.
I have never straightened or curled my hair so lets hope I don't fry my hair with this. Any tips for using straighteners are very much welcome!
P.S. Aussies, you will need to buy an adapter.

Price: Both items were $50 each which is a lot cheaper compared to other places. I also had a coupon for $25 off $100 so my order came down to $75. After all the conversions and credit card fees my order came to AU $80.02.

Shipping: Shipping to Australia is free for orders over $50 and was a lot faster then expected. It only took around a week (6 working days) to get here. However, even though the package said "signature on delivery", it was left on my doorstep even though I was at home.

Customer Service: Urban Outfitters has a "live chat" function on their website where you can directly talk to a staff member and ask them questions. However, sometimes it's not as useful as you would think:
I didn't notice this until after I had placed my order but the straighter I purchased said ceramic styling tool in the title but had an image of a titanium straightener! When I asked the lady on the live chat, she told me that I had to email them. (I have no idea why she couldn't answer my question on the live chat though) I got an email shortly after saying "Thank you for your recent inquiry. I am currently in the process of researching your request. I will respond with the information requested as soon as possible." She never got back to me. =( Luckily the straightener turned out to be the ceramic one which is the one that I wanted.

Payment: For some reason when I was checking out, Urban Outfitters would not accept my Paypal payment and said that I had "insufficient funds" in my account even though I had more than enough to cover my order! I tried different browsers, cleared my cookies etc and it still didn't work which was so so stressful as my coupon was about to expire. (Yes I left it until the last day to use it lol) I ended up having to use my mum's credit card which unfortunately includes extra charges when you purchase things internationally =(

Overall, despite a few bumps along the way, I'm happy with my purchase from Urban outfitters. Shipping was fast and there were no errors in the products I had purchased. I probably won't regularly shop at Urban Outfitters but it's a nice website to browse once in a while =)

Anyways, finals are coming up soon so I won't be posting much on this blog but I will be posting semi-frequently on Instagram! I have decided to take part in the Hundred Project where you post 100 different uni outfits to receive 25% off ASOS for an entire year! Are any of you guys doing the Hundred Project? =)

Anyways, good luck to all of my fellow uni students. Study hard and let's ace those finals!

  2. That's annoying they couldn't answer your query on the spot and then also never replied to your email! But at least the order was shipped as expected and arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I've never tried shopping from Urban Outfitters but if I had a voucher/coupon I might consider it :)
